Survival needs

There's no point building a better world if nobody survives to live in it.

The Nii'kinaaganaa Foundation provides one-time micro-grants to help people cover basic needs from groceries to rent arrears as well as things that are not covered through most funding sources like travel for funerals, getting things out of storage, whatever is causing you stress.

Susan Brown of Hope, BC is one community worker we work with to get and keep Indigenous people housed. You can read about her and a couple of the people we have helped in this newsletter.

If you need to access this funding, please have a worker that you are involved with contact us at niikinaaganaa@gmail.com to start the process. Contact with your worker helps us assess the options that are available to you and understand how our support will fit into the longer term supports you are receiving. We will not release any funds until we have been able to speak with a worker. This insures that you are supported beyond this crisis, and protects us from fraudulent requests.

These funds are disbursed around the 10th of each month on a first-come basis and they do run out quickly. If you are concerned about rent arrears, we are happy to provide your landlord with an assurance of payment and then pay them directly when the funds become available.
