Period security

It all began when I was going to Iqaluit and wanted to know what I should bring. We brought four hockey bags of supplies with us that time and I’ve been sending santitary supplies to Iqaluit ever since. At first it was a complicated process. My son lived in Iqaluit at the time and would let me know when co workers were returning from Ottawa. I collected the money and sent it to a friend in Ottawa who purchased supplies and gave the bag to somebody who brought it to Max (pictured) who took it to one of the shelters. Chaos.

But now through a partnership with Moon Time Sisters, who hold semi-annual drives for sanitary products, and the generous assistance of Canadian North airline shipping via standby we have been able to keep the women’s shelter and the qajuqturvik soup kitchen well supplied. In addition, because Amazon ships free to Iqaluit, between drives we are able to send additional items as needed.
